Patrons Newsletter

November 2017

Thank you, Thank you to all our Patrons, their families and friends who have supported us throughout the year. We look forward to yet another successful production in March when we are back at The Regent Centre with The Full Monty.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert

What a wonderful show this turned out to be, it exceeded all our expectations in every aspect, even giving us a healthy profit on ticket sales. Thank you for coming along and supporting us.

AGM which included Cheese and Wine

We had an excellent representation at our AGM this year. We decided to do something a little bit different and had Cheese and Wine at the end. This was really successful as many of our members stayed and caught up with each other. It turned into a very jolly evening and a good time was had by all. A presentation was made to Steve Smith in appreciation of her role as President and all her years of loyal service to BBLOC. We are lucky that she is still willing to remain on the Committee.

Christmas Sing-Song

This is being held on Monday 18 December, at Rooper Hall from 7:30 pm and will include Mulled Wine and some Christmas nibbles.

We really would love you to come along, it is only usually a couple of hours.

This will be a special Christmas Sing Song and ‘get-together’ as our new President Simon Rawlings is taking time out of his busy schedule to join us. We will have plenty of time to socialise and chat together.

If you need transport please let me know and I will organise someone to collect you and bring you home.

Coffee Morning

Our Coffee morning is on Friday 02 February 2018 10:30 to 12 noon. This will be at my house 22a Cavendish Road, Bournemouth BH1 1RF. Please come along and support us, cost is still £5.00 and there will be the usual Raffle to help boost our funds. A couple of members of the cast will come along to give us some inside information about the show.

Our New President - Simon Rawlings

Simon is a professional actor and director who made his debut performance with BBLOC as Barnaby in Hello Dolly which he says was “the most exhilarating week of my former life”. Simon went on to play a number of other principal roles for us before attending Mountview Theatre School in London and becoming a professional actor. He has a long list of television and stage credits, but it is as a Director he has found particular success. In Simon's words, he is "totally delighted to have been asked to be President” and we are thrilled that he has accepted our invitation.

Support for other Societies

This year our Social Club have made group trips to visit other societies. The Wizard of Oz, Bournemouth Musical Theatre (BMT), Made in Dagenham, Highcliffe Charity Players and Starlight Express, BMT.

Shows for 2018

We plan to do 2 shows next year, as we cannot get our July spot at the Pavilion. Our March Show is The Full Monty which we are putting on at the Regent Centre 21 – 24 March and all will be revealed about our big show at the Pavilion 15 – 21 October 2018.
